I haven't ever done an intro post, and since I've have some new friends around here, I wanted to say hello!
Random facts about me:
I love fishing. I learned how to fly fish this fall which was a blast! I definitely need to get better (and more self reliant) but I can't wait to go again this summer. Next up - finding a fly rod of my own!
I got into offroading when I moved here and have seen some amazing parts of the state that way! My step dad, step brother, and little brother are all very into it. I've learned a lot from them and stick to easier trails! I like to be able to see amazing sites, but I want to make sure I'm safe, and not trying to do something outside of my comfort level or skill set.
Hiking is where my brain gets quiet and relaxes from all the crazy in the world. It's a lot like yoga or meditation for me - everything melts away and I'm able to focus on my breathing and enjoy the views around me. This is also why I enjoy going solo a lot. I love people, but sometimes you just need some peace and quiet, ha.
I moved to CO 2 years ago! I've also lived in NE, MO, WI, and TX. My dad and stepmom are in Scottsdale, my mom and stepdad are in Denver, and my brother and sister in law are in Idaho - so everyone's pretty spread out!
National Parks are some of my favorite spots! My favorite parks (so far) are Bryce, Zion, and Arches. I really want to go to Yosemite soon. Which ones are your faves?
. I haven't been skiing since I moved here - I would rather hike in the winter. I would be open to taking lessons (your girl would need them ha) but it's such an expensive sport, that it's really detoured me from it. Hiking is really inexpensive, once you have a few pieces of gear, so I really appreciate that.
Snowshoeing is a blast and a great workout! I would rather go snowshoeing than skiing. I think the most fun I've had, doing winter sports, is snowmobiling. I would love to own some, one day, but again, there's a bigger barrier to entry than hiking.
My favorite color is pink - but I wear a lot of black and neutrals. Blue is a close second!
I love the outdoors, but I'm also very feminine, and love getting dressed up. Hannah (@hannahrheaume) and Bradee (@ponytail_onatrail) were recently talking about this on the Women in the Wilderness podcast, and I definitely resonated with it! Why can't we be both? Why can't we be girly (wear dresses, get our nails done, hair done, wear pink) but then also be badass women who are literally conquering mountains and camping outdoors? Hint: we can.
I love to read. I'm often reading multiple books at a time! I love to journal and self reflect in the mornings and just take some time to be still and really check in with myself.
I am slightly obsessed with houseplants. I have at least 25 of them and most of them are all doing great! But I've definitely killed a few ha and have learned which ones are typically easier to care for.
I have a long drive to my 9-5, so I podcast a ton. My favorite genres are sermons, business, self help/growth mindset, and holistic health. What are some fun facts about you? Hope you had the best weekend!
