I'm so excited to partner with Avail Car Sharing! Avail is the perfect solution for all of your transportation needs when you're visiting Colorado. If you're flying into Denver International Airport, simply select the location you want to pick up your car from, and then enjoy your trip!

If you want to make additional income, this is such a great solution for passive income! It's also a convenient way to store your car, in covered parking (out of the Colorado elements), and make additional revenue.

You'll be seeing a couple of posts, each month, with more information (and the best deals you can find for all of your transportation needs). I wanted to have a dedicated place to house all FAQ's - but as always, feel free to also DM me if you have questions!

Why should you share your car with Avail?

You can easily make money, from your parked car, when you don’t need to drive it. It’s perfect when working from home, if you’re out of town, or need some extra income. Your car will be safely parked in a covered garage, so no need to worry about Colorado hail, rain, or snow!

The more your car is borrowed, the more you earn! Avail handles all of the details, like pre-screening borrowers, key and car exchange, payment processing, post-trip refueling, cleaning, and inspection. They will even cover part of routine maintenance costs!

How to Share Your Car:

How does car sharing work?

Owners create an Avail account, share details about their vehicle, then drop it off at an Avail lot. Avail inspects the vehicle to ensure it meets their requirements. Borrowers can then reserve the vehicle through the Avail app or website. Once the reservation is complete, the borrower picks up the vehicle from the lot for their trip. When they’re done, they bring the car back for Avail to clean and make available for the next borrower or the owner.

Where do I drop off my keys and car?

Vehicle drop-off and pick-up are self-service at the Avail location of your choosing. Simply list your car, head to the lot, enter your code on the key box to drop off your keys and leave the rest to Avail!

How much money do people make car sharing with Avail?

When an eligible car is borrowed, the owner will earn a fixed amount each day based on the car’s class.

  • Standard cars, mid-size SUVs and vans earn $20 per day

  • Large SUVs earn $25 per day

Even if your car is not borrowed, during its sharing period, you will still get guaranteed earnings from Avail ($50 a week). If your car is borrowed, and you earn the fixed daily amount, it will count toward your guaranteed earnings. If your car is borrowed frequently during your sharing period, you can earn more than the guaranteed amount.

Avail owners can visit their Owner Dashboard to view their listing, see if their car is booked and check how much money they’ve earned.

What are some of the benefits of sharing my car?

The passive income you earn can help offset the cost of car ownership. Additionally, car sharing through Avail happens on your schedule and ensures no disruptions to your workday or routine. We’ll clean and inspect your car, and through our Avail Car Care Plan, we’ll even share routine maintenance costs for things like oil changes, tire rotations/replacements, brakes and fluids. Best of all, you’ll get paid fast at the end of each booking after your car is dropped off.

Is there a minimum or maximum listing length?

You must be able to share your car for a minimum of 5 consecutive days. There is no limit on how long you can share. If you are interested in long-term sharing, Avail has a program for owners interested in sharing for 6 months or longer. The more you share, the more you can earn.

How does insurance work?

Avail’s Allstate insurance policy kicks in as soon as you leave your vehicle with Avail. Owners receive up to $1 million in primary liability coverage. All vehicles are inspected prior to borrowing. This helps us ensure we return each car to its owner in the same condition it was dropped off in. If there’s noticeable damage after a trip, we file a claim on the owner’s behalf and coordinate repairs. The insurer may reach out to the borrower to gather details about the claim, but owners never pay anything in the rare case their car is damaged.

Avail owners are required to have collision and comprehensive coverage on their personal policy, and meet their state’s minimum insurance coverage requirements. For questions about your state’s minimum insurance requirements, contact your insurer or a licensed agent.

How does Avail ensure that responsible drivers borrow my car?

Avail pre-screens all borrowers before they are allowed to make a reservation. First, all borrowers must be 21 or older and submit a valid driver’s license. We use technology to verify that the ID is real and belongs to the person using it. Next, we run a driving history report: Avail doesn’t lend cars to anyone who has a history of DUIs, reckless driving or other types of severe violations. Finally, we assess the borrower for other known risk factors. This extra step helps us stop risky borrowers from getting behind the wheel of an owner’s car.

What if my car is in an accident while shared on Avail?

Here’s what to expect if your car is in an accident while it’s shared on Avail:

  • We will inform you. We will contact you to let you know how and where your car is damaged.

  • We will contact the insurance company. We work with the responsible party’s insurance company to document the accident and file an insurance claim so that your car can get repaired. We will cover alternate transportation if you need it.

  • Cost estimate and repair. The insurance company will assess how much repairs will cost and start fixing your car. You will never be financially responsible for any damage to your car, but we do need your permission to make any repairs.

  • Claims will follow up. An insurance claims adjuster will keep you informed about the status of your car and claim.

  • You get paid. The insurance company will handle direct payment to the owner of the car. If you don’t fully own the car, the insurance company works with your financial institution or lienholder.

  • We get your car back. Avail will work with the insurance company to get your car back to you so you can start sharing it again if you’d like.

How to Borrow a Car:

Why should you try car sharing in Denver?

The affordable convenience of car sharing gives you the flexibility to explore Colorado at your leisure. When you rent a car with Avail, you don’t need to worry about ordering an expensive ride-share service or paying for surge pricing. And you can enjoy the vehicle of your choice, whether it’s an SUV for a weekend bachelorette party or a compact sedan for a business trip.

Car sharing in Denver is a different kind of rental option that lets you borrow a car from a local Denver vehicle owner. Instead of paying for extras, like fees for drivers under 25, or additional drivers, you can enjoy the perks Avail offers like 24/7 roadside assistance and customer support. In addition, we offer car sharing insurance by Allstate. Additional fees may apply.

What is required of me in order to borrow a car from Avail?

In order to borrow a car from Avail you must fit into the following driver eligibility requirements:

  • Be 21 years or older

  • Have a valid U.S. driver’s license (international driver's licenses are not accepted at this time).

  • Have a clean driving record and pass Avail’s Motor Vehicle Report check

  • Have a debit or credit card for booking. The name on the reservation MUST MATCH the name listed on the credit card used. Your booking will be canceled if these do not match.

Where do I pick up the keys to my car?

Vehicle pickup and dropoff will be self service at the designated lockbox and parking lot of the location of your choosing. Simply book, arrive, enter your code on the lockbox to grab your keys, and get to driving!

What if I need to borrow the car for longer than a few days?

What if you need to use a vehicle for longer than a day or two? With Avail, you can rent a car on a long-term basis for up to 4 weeks. Doing this lets you avoid the high costs of car ownership, including loans, insurance premiums, and maintenance.

Is there a daily mileage limit?

Total trip mileage is limited to 200 miles per day. That means a 3-day trip is allowed up to 600 total miles before incurring a fee of an extra $0.50 per mile. We calculate total mileage by looking at the odometer before and after your trip.

How do I book a car with four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive?

We can’t guarantee a vehicle will have all-wheel drive, but since we only offer cars that are less than 10 years old, many of our SUVs come equipped. If you’d like to borrow a car with four-wheel drive, just reserve a midsize or large SUV and then chat Avail support with your preference. We will do our best to fulfill your request.
